Thomas Mercer, MS
President & Chief Executive Officer
Thomas Mercer, President and CEO, has overall responsibility for establishing strategy, overseeing day-to-day operations, and promoting the culture necessary to achieve EHR's mission and objectives. Prior to this role, he served as Chief Operating Officer, with management responsibility for EHR's core operations, including concurrent medical necessity reviews and retrospective denials/appeals. Mr. Mercer previously served as Vice President of Administrative Operations for EHR and was responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of EHR's Physician Advisor teams. Prior to joining EHR, Mr. Mercer served in a number of leadership roles during 17 years at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), most recently as Vice President of Strategic Planning and Project Management for U.S. Commercial Operations. Previously, Mr. Mercer held a number of senior strategy and operations management roles in GSK's U.S. Operations and in the global Research and Development organization. Before joining GlaxoSmithKline, Mr. Mercer worked as a life sciences consultant for Andersen Consulting (now Accenture). Mr. Mercer holds a bachelor's of science degree in Humanities and Communications from Drexel University in Philadelphia, and a master's of science degree in Information Science also from Drexel University.

Thomas McCarter, MD, FACP, FCPP
Chief Clinical Officer
Dr. Thomas McCarter, Chief Clinical Officer, is responsible for clinical and regulatory policy, oversight of EHR's Advisory Services, ACE and STAT Teams, and high-level client support and advocacy in the area of medical necessity. A Board Certified internist, Dr. McCarter has served as Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer of Main Line Health System, Philadelphia, Pa., and as Vice President of Medical Affairs for Tenet Health System's Pennsylvania Region. He has held faculty positions at the University of Pennsylvania, Hahnemann University, Medical College of Pennsylvania, Geisinger Medical Center, and Drexel University School of Medicine. Dr. McCarter serves as Clinical Editor of American Health & Drug Benefits and is a renowned industry speaker and was presented with the "Distinguished Speaker Award" by the Healthcare Financial Management Association in 2004 and 2005. Dr. McCarter received his medical degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine and bachelor's degrees in Biology and Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a Morehead Scholar.

Ralph Wuebker, MD, MBA
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Ralph Wuebker serves as Chief Medical Officer of Executive Health Resources (EHR). In this role, Dr. Wuebker provides clinical leadership within EHR and works closely with hospital leaders to ensure strong utilization review and compliance programs. Additionally, Dr. Wuebker oversees EHR's Audit, Compliance and Education (ACE) physician team, which is focused on providing on-site education for physicians, case managers, and hospital administrative personnel and on helping hospitals identify potential compliance vulnerabilities through ongoing internal audit. Prior to joining EHR, he served as Medical Director for the Midwest Region of Great-West Healthcare. Throughout his career, Dr. Wuebker also served as a hospitalist and instructor of medicine at Washington University School of Medicine and St. Louis Children's Hospital. Dr. Wuebker earned his medical degree and a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine and Master of Business Administration degree from the Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.

Kirk Schultz
Chief Administrative Officer
Kirk Schultz, Chief Administrative Officer, brings over 22 years of accounting, financial analysis and strategic planning experience to the team. In this role, he leads EHR's business development, finance, accounting, contract management, recruiting and human resources functions. Prior to joining EHR, he served as Chief Financial Officer for OptumInsight's Provider Solutions, one of the world's leading health information, technology, services and consulting companies to health systems and physicians. Prior to OptumInsight, Mr. Schultz served as Chief Financial Officer at Powermate Corporation. Mr. Schultz' extensive career also includes executive and management positions with IBM, BF Goodrich, Newell, and Fiskars Brands Inc., where his knowledge of accounting, financial analysis and strategic planning has helped shape the development and financial health of these organizations and provided a strong foundation for future growth. Mr. Schultz earned his master of business administration degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and holds a bachelor's of science degree in Finance from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota.

Luisa Contreiras
Chief Technology Officer
Luisa Contreiras, Chief Technology Officer, brings over 20 years of software development and information technology (IT) experience to EHR. Mostly concentrating in healthcare, she has run software development organizations, developing large scale enterprise software and IT organizations and supporting mission critical infrastructure environments. Prior to joining EHR, Ms. Contreiras served as Chief Technology Officer at Synarc Clinical Research, Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Operations at Gentiae Clinical Research, and Chief Technology Officer at Concuity. Previously, Ms. Contreiras also oversaw technology departments at Blue Shield of California, Saba Software and Oracle Corporate and also worked at Price Waterhouse Consulting. Ms. Contreiras holds a degree in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Parul Mistry, MD, MA
Vice President of Concurrent Operations
Dr. Parul Mistry, Vice President of Concurrent Operations, has overall responsibility for EHR's concurrent medical necessity operations including the company's Implementation Services, Clinical Support Team, and First Level Review Team. Prior to this, Dr. Mistry served as Vice President of Concurrent Clinical Operations with oversight of the Physician Advisor teams that deliver EHR's concurrent medical necessity compliance management solutions. Prior to joining EHR in 2004, Dr. Mistry served as Medical Director of Hanna House Skilled and Rehabilitation at University Hospitals of Cleveland, as well as an Assistant Professor at Case Western University. Previous to these positions, she was a Medical Director of sub-acute care services at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. Mistry received her medical degree (MBBS) in internal medicine from Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College in Bombay, India. She completed both her internship and residency at Abington Memorial Hospital in Philadelphia. She has a master's degree in Bioethics from Case Western Reserve University.

Alan Balick, MD
Vice President of Quality and Clinical Content
Dr. Alan Balick, Vice President of Quality and Clinical Content, is responsible for EHR's ongoing Clinical and Regulatory Research divisions, Training, Education, and Quality Assurance divisions. Prior to this role at EHR, Dr. Balick served as Vice President of Medical Affairs for EHR and was responsible for ensuring the quality and timely delivery of recommended determination letters to EHR's hospital clients. Dr. Balick previously served as EHR's Director of Concurrent Operations, during which time he managed the daily operations of many of EHR's Physician Advisor teams. Prior to joining EHR in 2003, Dr. Balick was a practicing internist with Great Valley Health, where he was a Co-Director of the Hospital Medical Service, an exclusively hospital-based Hospitalist practice providing services at Main Line Health's System of Hospitals. A board-certified physician in Internal Medicine, Dr. Balick received his medical degree from St. Georges University School of Medicine and completed an internal medicine residency at Cooper Hospital University Medical Center.

Michael Modiz
Vice President of Appeals Management
Michael Modiz, Vice President of Appeals Management, is responsible for all commercial and governmental denials/appeals cases that are processed through EHR, as well as overseeing EHR's Command Center. Previous to this role, he served as Vice President of Administrative Operations with oversight of EHR's telephonic and electronic case referral processes and their supporting teams, as well as key allied functions within EHR. Prior to this, Mr. Modiz served as Director of Operational Effectiveness, and helped develop operational processes to drive quality, timeliness and effective service delivery to EHR's hospital clients. Mr. Modiz' extensive career has included operating executive roles with CareNetwork and McKesson Health Solutions, as well as being the first President/CEO of Independent Care, a joint venture between Humana and a Milwaukee-based social service agency working with the State of Wisconsin and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation on a research and demonstration project. Mr. Modiz holds a bachelor's of science degree in Computer Science and an executive master of business administration degree, both from the University of Wisconsin.

J. Carter Montague
Vice President of Product Development and Analytics
J. Carter Montague, Vice President of Product Development and Analytics, works to identify key areas of opportunity for EHR to best support the healthcare marketplace through the development, delivery and enhancements of existing products and service offerings related to medical necessity compliance and appeals management. Additionally, Mr. Montague oversees the analytics team who support EHR's hospital clients with their ongoing evaluation of compliance program effectiveness and internal compliance risk assessment. Prior to joining EHR in 2010, Mr. Montague held an assistant vice president role in Product Management at TriZetto, Inc., a leading software provider to the payor industry. Previously, Mr. Montague was President and Founder of Ventana Management, LLC, a private investment firm in Boston. Mr. Montague received his master of business administration degree from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a major in Health Care Management, and a bachelor's of arts degree in Mathematics (cum laude) from Washington and Lee University. He became an Associate in the Society of Actuaries in 1993.

James Lombard
Vice President of Account Management
James Lombard, Vice President of Account Management, is responsible for managing all of EHR's hospital client relationships, including development and assignment of his team of strategic account directors, client satisfaction programs, client retention and organic growth opportunities. Prior to its divestment in 2005, Mr. Lombard managed all aspects of EHR's Clinical Staffing Solutions, a successful, regional hospitalist and house coverage business. Prior to joining EHR, Mr. Lombard served as the regional Chief Operating Officer for EmCare, Inc. Inpatient Services, a national hospital medicine company. Prior to this role, he served as Care Management Director for Albert Einstein Healthcare Network, Philadelphia, a member of the Jefferson Health System, and Director of Quality Management for Germantown Hospital and Medical Center in Philadelphia. Mr. Lombard holds a bachelor's of science degree in business administration from La Salle University in Philadelphia, Pa.

Wayne Grodsky
Chief Sales Officer
Wayne Grodsky, Chief Sales Officer, is responsible for sales strategy and oversees the EHR's sales team. Mr. Grodsky has more than 20 years of experience in hospital and health system compliance, revenue cycle management, managed care contracting, physician practice management, and physician education. Prior to joining EHR, he served as Regional Vice President of Sales for ARC Group Associates, a revenue cycle management company. Mr. Grodsky started his career with The Health Care Group, Inc., the nation's leading health care consulting and legal firm for physicians, during which time he served as a frequent speaker at large physician venues nationally, and co-authored the book "Practice Nineties." Mr. Grodsky received his bachelor's degree in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland.

Robert J. Borghese
General Counsel
Mr. Borghese, General Counsel, is a corporate transactional attorney with extensive experience representing healthcare and technology companies. Mr. Borghese has represented EHR since its inception in 1997. He has also represented numerous hospitals and healthcare systems, as well as a range of other healthcare, technology and consulting companies. He has advised on strategic planning, merger, acquisition and financing transactions, joint ventures and strategic partnerships, and regulatory and reimbursement issues, as well as general corporate matters, including technology development and licensing, contracting and employment issues. Since 1992, Mr. Borghese has been a member of the faculty of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he teaches the top-rated course in the Wharton M.B.A. and Executive M.B.A. programs entitled Legal and Transactional Aspects of Entrepreneurship. He is the author of M&A from Planning to Integration: Executing Acquisitions and Increasing Shareholder Value, published by McGraw-Hill in English and Chinese language versions. Mr. Borghese received his juris doctor degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, a master's degree in Financial Economics from King's College, Cambridge University, England, and a bachelor's degree in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

David R. Hoffman
Corporate Compliance Counsel
David R. Hoffman, Corporate Compliance Counsel, is a health care attorney who specializes in compliance-related matters. Mr. Hoffman assists health care providers in integrating quality care with compliance activities and has developed compliance programs for providers nationwide. Mr. Hoffman has served as a federal and state monitor for nursing homes and assisted living facilities throughout the country and has been part of a Patient Care Ombudsman team monitoring hospitals and physician practices that filed for bankruptcy. Mr. Hoffman served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania for 12 years where he prosecuted health care fraud matters both criminally and civilly. He is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Earle Mack School of Law at Drexel University, where his focus is on patient/resident safety and the law, and a Dean's Professor at the Mayes College of Healthcare Business and Policy at the University of the Sciences. Mr. Hoffman is a frequent lecturer for the Health Care Compliance Association and serves on the editorial board of the Association's publication, Compliance Today. Mr. Hoffman is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
